Other Common Pests
Wood Boring Beetles
Wood Boring Beetles are common throughout the bay area.
Beetles commonly attack fungus infected wood but will also infest sound wood.
Beetles are usually discovered by their exit holes and piles of dust like material which is ejected.
Exterior decks and trim as well as substructure framing are a favorite of local beetle populations.
Carpenter Ants
Carpenter Ants typically infest homes that are in wooded areas or that have older trees on the property.
They do not eat the wood but will hollow out wood members to make a gallery to inhabit.
Their frass (waste) can include small wood shavings, pieces of building material and small insect pieces.
